screening will be the brilliant
Mean Streets at the Tyneside
cinema in Newcastle on
21 January.
The 1973 movie was
Scorsese’s first, and some say
best, feature-length film of his
own design. Harvey Keitel stars
as an ambitious mafia member
torn between his burgeoning
mob career, his devout
Catholicism and his friend (and
occasional lunatic) Robert De
Niro. Set in New York’s Little
Italy, the film was the first
of a long and successful
collaborative process between
F
De Niro and Scorsese. ShortList
and Jameson will also be
hosting a cult-film quiz with
ShortList editorial director Phil
Hilton lending his voice and
words to the proceedings.
It doesn’t stop there
though – there’ll also be a
complimentary cocktail or
