MOTORING
That’ll be £4m
then please, Sir
Maybach’s Exelero supercar
takes luxury to ludicrous levels
Is the £800,000 Bugatti Veyron
just too common for you?
Sick of seeing them parked
outside your local butcher’s?
Thought so – you must be more
of a Maybach Exelero man.
The upside? It’s one of a kind.
The downside? Your current

account will register a £4m
deficit after purchase.
The idea for it came up in
2005, when tyre-maker Fulda got
in touch with the then-recently
revived German company
Maybach with a new project plan.
Fulda wanted a car to test its
most extreme high-performance
tyre – and this was the outcome.
A 700hp, two-seater with a
bi-turbo V12 engine, it’s a one-off
interpretation of the legendary
Maybach from the Thirties.
Its frankly absurd 19.3ft length
has shifted at 218mph in testing
and has been on our radar for a
while – but only now is it looking
for a buyer. In many ways, Exelero
represents what Maybach could
have been – a genuine Bentley
and Rolls-Royce contender.

At 19.3ft in length, you’re
gonna need a bigger drive
