BEST WET-SHAVE PRODUCTS
Five tips for a close, effective and comfortable wet shave
1. A good close shave is all about the preparation. Begin with a hot
towel or steam to open your pores and soften your beard. Exfoliate
and apply shaving cream with a shaving brush (also called a badger
brush) to help lift hairs, making them easier to cut.
2. Blades should last an average of one week, but this will vary
depending on how much resistance it has had to tackle. The
moment you notice that your blade is starting to drag, bin it.
3. Contrary to popular belief, it’s fine to shave against the grain,
provided you’ve shaved with the grain first. Always remember to
re-lather over the area if you’re going to go across it again.
4. Avoid shaving just after you’ve woken up. Not only does a
puffy morning face make shaving trickier, but handling a sharp
blade when you’re half-asleep always ends in tears. And blood.
5. The stinging sensation of an alcohol-based aftershave may feel
like it’s doing a good job, but it’s only going dry out your skin and
cause irritation.
